Gender and Sexuality in Judaism with Dr. Claire Sufrin

Begins Wednesday, November 9- December 14 (no class November 23) @ 7pm.
From its most traditional to its most liberal forms, contemporary Judaism has been deeply influenced by feminism and its call to pay attention to how gender and sexuality shape, and are shaped, by religious experiences and ideas. In these classes, we will use gender and sexuality as lenses for analyzing key Jewish sacred texts, rituals, and theologies. Along the way, we will also address how attention to gender and sexuality sheds light on the lives of Jewish women and men of the past and present. This five-session program is sponsored by Laura and Marshall Kordon
Dr. Claire Sufrin is a scholar of religion specializing in modern Jewish thought and theology. Dr. Sufrin is Senior Editor at the Shalom Hartman Institute of North America.
